  Chief Minister Pema Khandu addressed the 7th General Conference of the Confederation of Service Associations of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP) at Pasighat , urging public servants to look beyond personal demands and focus on their duty towards effective public service delivery. Emphasising the larger role of government employees, the Chief Minister said that such conferences should not be confined to discussions on demands and memorandums alone. Ziro , Jan 21: The District Administration of Lower Subansiri has ordered the unsealing of an illegal Masjid/Mosque located at Suluya , Old Ziro to allow its immediate demolition by the land owner. According to an official order issued by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Lower Subansiri District, the mosque was earlier sealed on December 29, 2025, following a complaint lodged by ST Bachao Andolan , Ziro, pending an amicable settlement. The administration received a letter dated January 19, 2026, from the Chairman and Secretary of the Old Ziro Market Welfare Committee requesting the unsealing of the structure so that the land owner, Shri Rubu Tapa , could demolish the mosque at his own expense. Acting on the request, the Circle Officer, Ziro, has been directed to unlock the sealed mosque at Suluya with immediate effect to facilitate demolition of the structure by the land owner. #stbachaoandolan #SolDodum #tarosonamliyak

  The chairman of Arunachal ST Bachao Andolan , Sol Dodum , on Tuesday extended solidarity support to the bandh callers in Ziro and warned the district administration that a 48-hour bandh would be enforced after 14 days, if the demands raised during today’s bandh are not met. He stated that the bandh would be carried out jointly with ST Bachao Andolan members from all districts of the state. Addressing the Deputy Commissioner of Lower Subansiri district , Dodum clarified that he is not against any religion or place of worship, including masjid, mandir, church, or Nyedar Namlo . However, he emphasised that the agitation is against illegally constructed structures that allegedly lack proper legal documentation. He reiterated that authorities must listen to public grievances, asserting that if the local public does not want an illegal structure, the government has no right to retain it.   The Arunachal ST Bachao Andolan (Lower Subansiri District Unit), in coordination with the United Joint Youth Steering Committee , Bamin Michi Youth Association , Siiro Youth Association , and the Arunachal Pradesh Indigenous Youth Organisation , has announced a 24-hour bandh across the entire Lower Subansiri district on January 21, 2026. According to the organisers, the bandh is being called to press their long-standing demand for the demolition of two allegedly illegal masjids, one located at Pare Ami, Hapoli , and the other at Sullya, Old Ziro . The organisations stated that a meeting was convened by the district administration to discuss the issue.   One alleged cadre of the NSCN-KYA surrendered before security forces following a joint operation in Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday, officials said. According to official sources, acting on specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of an active insurgent in and around Longding Bazaar , a joint operation was launched on January 19 by the Khonsa and Longding battalions of the Assam Rifles in coordination with the Arunachal Pradesh Police . Security personnel reportedly established contact with the suspect through ground sources and engaged in sustained counselling and negotiations.   The Papu Hills Police have cracked a major cyber fraud case involving the illegal transfer of ₹12.72 lakh from a woman’s savings account through unauthorized UPI transactions . The case has been registered as PHPS Case No. 113/25 under Sections 306/318(4)/319 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita read with Sections 66(C) and 66(D) of the IT Act, 2000 . According to police sources, the complaint was lodged by Smt. Biri Piomey, wife of Shri Biri Tach, a resident of Down Press Colony , Papunallah , who reported that between 6 November 2025 and 14 December 2025, a total amount of ₹12,72,000 was siphoned off from her SBI savings account through UPI transactions without her knowledge or consent. The matter came to light after she noticed a transfer of ₹50,000 to her private driver’s account on 27 November 2025.
